HCCS built this comprehensive tool in response to tighter regulations, including the new IRS Form 990 regulations.

COI-SMART’s simple interface provides improved control over the Conflicts of Interest disclosure and review process at the individual and institutional level. This automated tool conforms to the process an organization already has in place or provides the framework for a new process, eliminating cumbersome manual disclosure tracking.

“Most healthcare organizations today have a burdensome and risky manual process for tracking COI disclosures,” says Ben Diamond, President of HCCS. “This leads to large stacks of paperwork where disclosures can be lost and management review is virtually non-existent. COI-SMART facilitates the review process through automation. We’re confident COI-SMART will provide healthcare organizations with improved control and reduced risk at a lower total cost than their current COI disclosure and review process.”

Fully customizable questionnaires are automatically configured for each respondent based on their role and allow for multilevel questions based on response. COI-SMART provides organizations with the tools for automated assignment of reviewers, the development of COI management plans, and data mining tools for auditing, tracking and reporting on potential conflicts of interest.

The COI-SMART system expands HCCS’ product line of online multimedia courseware and Learning Management Systems designed for healthcare organizations.

HCCS (Health Care Compliance Strategies, Inc.), the leading provider of online healthcare compliance and competency training, today announced the release of newly updated online multimedia compliance courses. The updated courses are Corporate Compliance, Professional Compliance and HIPAA Compliance.

These new courses from HCCS are designed to educate healthcare staff and administration on their role and responsibility with critical government regulations. These three HCCS courses are an important part of an ongoing compliance program for healthcare organizations to help protect their staff, their patients and their facilities.

Medicare, Medicaid and HIPAA rules and regulations are constantly changing and can be difficult and confusing for staff to understand. In the last year alone there has been physician and corporate compliance regulations, guidance and changes regarding the False Claims Act (FCA), the Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS), Identity Theft and Red Flags rules, Medicaid eligibility, the Physician Quality Reporting Initiative Program (PQRI), the OIG Workplan, and dozens of other regulatory topics.

In addition, The Stimulus Act of 2009 has prompted many important changes to guidelines surrounding HIPAA. Healthcare organizations are faced with new deadlines and criteria to meet.

HCCS addresses these issues and many others in short, customizable, and easy to understand modules.

“Healthcare organizations have the daunting task of staying on top of constantly changing regulations,” says Ben Diamond, President of HCCS. “Having these updates automatically applied to courses allows our clients to effectively educate their staff and focus on what they do best – providing quality patient care.”

Along with new content, HCCS has updated the courses with new videos, scenarios and interactive exercises to engage learners and increase information retention.

HCCS provides regular updates to clients via their online training courses when rules, regulations, legal rulings, documents or other information becomes available that impacts course content. HCCS’ online learning and competency solutions enhance job performance and promote compliance with ethical, legal and accreditation guidelines.
